Friday 26th July – Bike ***** Two Rivers – Orwell to the Deben – mainly cloudy.

With several days of temperatures nearing 30 degrees, much too hot for use, airless too with very little breeze Mag and I have spent a lot of time in the peace and quiet of our garden avoiding the crowds at the beach. Up early this morning after another 20-degree night we decided to make the most of the cloudy and cooler morning and got our bikes out and headed down to the River Orwell at Landguard. We left home at 6.55 and soon made it to the prom and the beach was amazingly litter free despite the huge crowds of the past few days but sadly people had found the litter bins full had placed their rubbish in bags by them and the gulls had made a big mess rooting around:( It’s a great time to be out and about with only the odd dog walker and jogger as we biked to the end of the prom, then through the caravan site and onto Landguard Nature Reserve with loads of rabbits. Mag had her coffee by the Orwell watching the tide whizz out as two Offshore Energy Support boats headed out! It was then back along the prom with Mag returning home I continued to the end of the prom at Jacobs Ladder taking my bike up the steep steps then down again through the beach huts wireless green. Then it was all the way to my favourite Felixstowe Ferry with its flat water and moody skies. Yet more pictures taken I return home via the Grove being out 2 hours covering 12 miles, this is only the second time out on our bikes this month! The sun has come out hot again so I do my exercises in the garden before we cut up an old settee and take it to the dump before visiting an old friend for a cuppa in the afternoon:)
